Our repetitive daily routines can make certain muslces over work and become tight resulting in muslce imbalances and therefore inefficient movement. If we were to constantly stretch correctly, our bodies would be less stiff and we may avoid unnecessary injuries.
As human beings we have lost the natural instinct of stretching. If you observe most animals they spend most of their day stretching.
For example observe your pet your cat, your bird or your dog.
Even little babies stretch. As we grow up and life becomes busy, stretching is the last thing on our minds. Most of us don't even know how to stretch individual muscles correctly.
At Aligned Feet Podiatry we take stretching very seriously and coach all patients as required, ensuring that they are able to perform the correct techniques at home.
